George William Anstee Second Boer War Hero

We have uploaded to the pre-World War One Roll of Honour a biography of George William Anstee of the Chewton Mendip Ansteys, who “Served in Zulu war, 1877-79, Frontier Light Horse; Kimberley, Gladstone Hotel, 1881 to 1887; Langberg war, Diamond Fields Horse; Boer war, 1899-1902, Imperial Light Horse, 2nd Kitchener’s Fighting Scouts“.

Both we at the Anstey project and indeed his family at the time lose track of him after 1902 – anybody who knows what became of George, or has information they would like to add to this biography, please contact us at

Anybody who has researched their Anstey ancestors’ wartime heroics and wishes for their findings to be uploaded to the Anstey story project website, feel free to contact us.
