George William Anstee Second Boer War Hero

We have uploaded to the pre-World War One Roll of Honour a biography of George William Anstee of the Chewton Mendip Ansteys, who “Served in Zulu war, 1877-79, Frontier Light Horse; Kimberley, Gladstone Hotel, 1881 to 1887; Langberg war, Diamond Fields Horse; Boer war, 1899-1902, Imperial Light Horse, 2nd Kitchener’s Fighting Scouts“.

Both we at the Anstey project and indeed his family at the time lose track of him after 1902 – anybody who knows what became of George, or has information they would like to add to this biography, please contact us at research@theansteystory.com.

Anybody who has researched their Anstey ancestors’ wartime heroics and wishes for their findings to be uploaded to the Anstey story project website, feel free to contact us.
