Edward John Anstey World War One Hero

We have uploaded to the World War One Roll of Honour a biography of Edward John Anstey of the St Luke, Holburn Ansteys, who was so keen to join the war effort that he volunteered aged only 16, misstating his age as 18 to officers, and was posted to the 5th Battalion Rifle Brigade (Prince Consort’s Own) as a Private/Rifleman – however three months later he was discharged for “having made a mis-statement as to his age on enlistment“.

Anybody who has information they would like to add to this biography please contact us at research@theansteystory.com.

Anybody who has researched their Anstey ancestors’ wartime heroics and wishes for their findings to be uploaded to the Anstey story project website, feel free to contact us.
