Richard Anstey World War One Hero

We have uploaded to the World War One Roll of Honour a biography of Richard Anstey of the Bathealton Ansteys, who embarked for France with 245 Company of the Machine Gun Corps on 15 July 1917, joining the 50th (Northumberland) Division of the British Expeditionary Forces there on 30 July 1917. He was still in France when 245 Company moved into the 50th Battalion M. G. C. in March 1918 with whom he was “mildly gassed” during the prelude to the Battle of the Aisne.

Anybody who has information they would like to add to this biography please contact us at research@theansteystory.com.

Anybody who has researched their Anstey ancestors’ wartime heroics and wishes for their findings to be uploaded to the Anstey story project website, feel free to contact us.
