There is no such thing as an India ‘Anstey’, Ansty’, ‘Anstee’ and ‘Anstie’ sub-branch. Ansteys connected to India hail from a gallimaufry of offshoots of sub-branches, however they have one thing in common, being that they can ALL ultimately trace back their ‘Anstey’ lineage to England, joining with one of the known English Anstey sub-branches.
To our knowledge, zero Anstey families actually settled in India after it ceased to be an English colony in 1947, and there are only a tiny handful of ‘Anstey’, Ansty’, ‘Anstee’ and ‘Anstie’ expatriates living there today – however there has been quite a bit of Anstey involvement in India in past times, principally through the Civil Service; the Army or the Church.
The India Anstey page can be found on the Principal Anstey Sub-Branches sub-menu.
Anybody who has researched their Anstey ancestors in India and wishes for their findings to be uploaded to the Anstey story project website, feel free to contact us at research@theansteystory.com.
