We have uploaded to the Pre-World War One Roll of Honour a biography of George Henry Anstee of the Chewton Mendip Ansteys who, according to his own words in late 1899 and early 1900, “had three months at the front [in South Africa]. I have fought in three battles and have joined in one bayonet charge and thank God I have only got a bullet through my right wrist. It is marvellous how it went through without smashing my wrist.”
Anybody who has information they would like to add to this biography please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Anybody who has researched their Anstey ancestors’ wartime heroics and wishes for their findings to be uploaded to the Anstey story project website, feel free to contact us.
