William Samuel Smith Anstey World War One Hero

We have uploaded to the World War One Roll of Honour a biography of William Samuel Smith Anstey, probably of the Garnish Fortune Bay Ansteys, who enlisted for service on 1 December 1914 but was deemed a “Deserter and absentee from His Majesty’s Service” in May 1916 – he then briefly served with the Royal Air Force as a ‘Private 2’ (Service Number: 284314) just before the end of the conflict.

Anybody who has information they would like to add to this biography please contact us at research@theansteystory.com.

Anybody who has researched their Anstey ancestors’ wartime heroics and wishes for their findings to be uploaded to the Anstey story project website, feel free to contact us.
