The Cambridgeshire Ansteys of the 1400s

The Cambridgeshire Ansteys, a sub-branch of the medieval Ansteys, lived at the absolute pinnacle of society in the 1400s and early 1500s, holding elevated county positions such as High Sheriff, Escheator and Knight of the Shire for Cambridgeshire and next-door county Huntingdonshire on numerous occasions. They were fabulously wealthy, owning extensive lands, including their family home of Stow Quy in Cambridgeshire where they were Lord of the Manor for almost a century.

The story of the Cambridgeshire Anstey sub-branch has now been fully mapped out by researchers Gary and Tom, and it is thoroughly documented in their third co-authored book

ANSTEY: The Cambridgeshire Branch of the 1400s and early 1500s

the first edition of which was privately printed in December 2018. The second edition of this book is currently being prepared for publication and sale on Amazon (anybody interested in being contacted when this second edition is available for purchase, please contact Gary at
