Our pre-Anstey Ancestors

Hubert de Anstey is the first holder and originator of the Anstey surname in 1143, but he had ancestors just like everybody else – it’s just they weren’t called ‘Anstey’. Hubert‘s ancestors are of course also direct ancestors of almost all Ansteys alive today. The furthest back we have currently traced Hubert de Anstey‘s ancestral pedigree is to his great x 2 grandfather Hubert de Rie, a very high ranking Norman and a leading supporter and loyal vassal of William the Conqueror.

Our pre-Anstey ancestors have been extensively researched by G. M. Anstey (Gary) and T. J. Anstey (Tom), the overseers and chief researchers of this ‘Anstey Story‘ project, and the current state of the research is covered in Appendix One of their first co-authored book:

Anstey: Our True Surname Origin and Shared Medieval Ancestry

which is now in its third edition, and is available for purchase at Amazon USA, Amazon UK, Amazon Singapore and Amazon Canada.

Active research is currently being undertaken, searching for additional ‘pre-Anstey ancestors’ material to put in a fourth edition of ‘Anstey: Our True Surname Origin and Shared Medieval Ancestry‘.

The latest findings are being uploaded to this project as they are discovered – see the tag “Anstey Our True Surname Origin Fourth Edition
