Pre-World War One Conflicts

by Gary. M. Ansteychief researcher of the Anstey story project.

Since the origin of our surname in 1143, many members of the ‘Anstey’, Ansty’, ‘Anstee’ and ‘Anstie’ family have fought in wars. For some of the earlier medieval wars, we know a surprising amount of detail about Anstey involvement, for others we either know nothing or next to nothing. In this section of the Anstey Story Project, we will try to commemorate as many pre-World War One Anstey Heroes as we possibly can.

Anybody who has researched their Anstey ancestors’ wartime heroics in conflicts which occurred any time before World War One and wishes for their (original) findings to be uploaded to the Anstey story project website, please contact us at research@theansteystory.com.

Likewise, anybody who can add any new information to the below Roll of Honour, or has found any errors, please feel free to contact us.
