Books by Gary and Tom

G. M. Anstey (Gary) and T. J. Anstey (Tom) are the overseers and chief researchers of the ‘Anstey Story‘ project. We have between us conducted many thousands of hours of ‘Anstey’ surname research, and we have currently co-authored four books on the Ansteys. The first of our books to be written was:

Anstey: Our True Surname Origin and Shared Medieval Ancestry

which was first published in March 2017 on Amazon. A second edition (coffee table hardback book) was privately printed in November 2017, and there is now a third edition, published in February 2019, which is currently available for sale at Amazon USAAmazon UKAmazon Singapore and Amazon Canada.

After much further research in 2020 and 2021, which is still ongoing, we are now beginning to draft the fourth edition of Anstey: Our True Surname Origin and Shared Medieval Ancestry. This fourth edition will hopefully be published next year, subject to there being enough demand to cover the costs of publication (see below).

The first edition of our second book, ANSTEY: The Cambridgeshire Branch of the 1400s and early 1500s, was privately printed in December 2018. Further research for the second edition is currently under way, for eventual publication and sale, subject to there being enough demand to cover the costs of publication (see below).

The first edition of our third book, ANSTEY: The Devon and Somerset Branch, was privately printed in July 2018. Further research for the second edition is currently under way, for eventual publication and sale, subject to there being enough demand to cover the costs of publication (see below).

The first edition of our fourth book, ANSTEY: The Stoke Gifford Branch, was privately printed in September 2019. Further research for the second edition is currently under way, for eventual publication and sale, subject to there being enough demand to cover the costs of publication (see below).

[Important Note: Anybody interested in being contacted when new editions of these books are available for purchase please contact us at gary@theansteystory.com. We are not looking to make a profit on these books (far from it – this endeavour has cost us a fortune), but we do need a certain minimum level of demand in order to cover at least some of the costs of publishing.]

The areas of the Anstey pedigree covered by each of the four above books is nicely summarised in the below schematic, taken from the fourth edition of ‘ANSTEY: Our True Surname Origin and Shared Medieval Ancestry‘, research for which is ongoing.
