The Berkshire Ansteys

The Berkshire Ansteys are a sub-branch of the Cambridgeshire Ansteys, containing among their numbers probably the most well known modern day Anstey, that being Christopher Anstey the famous 18th century poet. The principal and root sub-branch of the Berkshire Ansteys is the Blewbury Ansteys.

The story of the early Berkshire Ansteys has been researched extensively by researchers Gary and Tom, and it is documented in one of the appendices to their third co-authored book

ANSTEY: The Cambridgeshire Branch of the 1400s and early 1500s

the first edition of which was privately printed in December 2018. The second edition of this book is currently being prepared for publication and sale on Amazon, subject to there being sufficient demand (anybody interested in being contacted when this second edition is available for purchase, please contact us at research@theansteystory.com).

The Berkshire Ansteys’ position in the Anstey pedigree is illustrated nicely in the below schematic.

We have already uploaded bits of information and documentation about the Berkshire Ansteys, and continue to upload more all the time (see Project Updates), however it is spread over various segments of the website.

The best way to find said information is to enter ‘Berkshire’ in the search box at the bottom of this page and a list of relevant pages will appear.
