Somerset ‘Anstey’, Ansty’, ‘Anstee’ and ‘Anstie’s are quite complicated. Basically there are three types of ‘Anstey’, Ansty’, ‘Anstee’ and ‘Anstie’s in Somerset, being:
- Those who connect to the South West Peninsula Anstey pedigree;
- Those who are ‘Ansteys evolved from other surnames‘; and
- Those who connect to other ‘Anstey’, Ansty’, ‘Anstee’ and ‘Anstie’ sub-branches, and subsequently moved to Somerset for whatever reason (for example Bath).
Thus far, ‘Anstey’, Ansty’, ‘Anstee’ and ‘Anstie’s in Somerset where we have begun to upload information are:
- South West Peninsula Ansteys:
- Bathealton Ansteys (Code ‘BL‘)
- Batheaston Ansteys (Code ‘BS‘)
- Curry Rivel Ansteys (Code ‘CY‘)
- Cutcombe Ansteys (Code ‘CB‘)
- Dulverton Ansteys (Code ‘DU‘)
- Milverton Ansteys (Code ‘MV‘)
- Ansteys Evolved from other Surnames:
- Camerton Ansteys (Code ‘CN‘)
- Castle Cary Ansteys (Code ‘CC‘)
- Chewton Mendip Ansteys (Code ‘CW‘)
- Timsbury Ansteys (Code ‘TS‘)
- Anstey sub-branches not yet connected:
- Milborne Port Anstys (Code ‘MP‘)
