Poll Tax Returns 1377-1381

In the first three editions of ‘ANSTEY: Our True Surname Origin and Shared Medieval Ancestry‘ can be found an increasingly complete listing of medieval Ansteys who appeared in the Poll Tax Returns of 1377 to 1381. Even though we have discovered yet more entries during our research for the fourth edition of our first book (see ‘Ansteys in Medieval Censuses‘ for the current updated list), we still lack access to the one source which can probably help us the most in this regard.

The source is ‘The Poll Taxes of 1377, 1379, and 1381‘ by Caroline C. Fenwick, which consists of three volumes of listings. Unfortunately it is not online, but it can be found in numerous university libraries in the UK.

If anybody is so inclined, it would be very useful to our research if they could search through said three volumes (they are very well indexed at the back) and send any appearances of medieval Ansteys therein to research@theansteystory.com.
